About Osteofascial Therapy

Going Bone Deep

Osteo means Bone Related
Fascial means Connective Tissue Related

Bones are Ossified Connective Tissue
I am a connective tissue specialist who has discovered that our bones have a lot of information - and wisdom - to share with us.
The previous statement is a bit esoteric and I prefer to be practical.

Practically speaking, I've discovered that a surprising majority of people's pain and restriction issues are coming up from the bones. As going to the root of the issues in my clients' tissues is the focus, I had to figure out how to work with the bones - and it's working.

Not Deep Tissue
I could call this work deep tissue massage, but that implies a therapy that I rarely do, because I don't focus on muscles and I go deeper than traditional deep tissue therapy goes. And when you are going deep to the bone, a whole new skillset is involved.

Skills
Not only have I needed to develop new skills, but I discovered that ossified connective tissue follows a few rules that soft connective tissue does not. For example, soft connective tissue takes 72-hours to fully "reset" after a hard workout or deep tissue massage. The bones, however, take a full 5 days. And bones are mighty sensitive, therefore particular, compared to almost all other body tissues.

Sensitivity
If you are more sensitive than a neurotypical person, your life is likely more impacted and therefore more prone to suffering than the average person. The same is true of our bones, which are more sensitive than most other body tissues. And let me tell you - it takes a combination of intense bravery and compassion to work with the bones, let alone the bones of a sensitive person. And yet - that's where the longest relief comes from, so that's where I go.

Truth
Truth is never easy, yet it's always worth the effort.
The truth is ...

Connective tissue - aka fascia - therapy is what has helped my clients the most, so that's where I put my focus.
Osteofascial therapy is what helps my clients even more, so that's where my current efforts are going.

I welcome all who are up to this brave challenge; we might just change the world, you and I.
