Off The Cuff
Take what works, discard what doesn’t.
We're all unique even though our basic needs are the same.
We're all unique even though our basic needs are the same.
I woke up, finally, to the painful reality that most of humankind is rather batshit crazy. My odd awakenings usually follow a desperate search across the Internet for any and all articles that reveal if anyone else sees what I see, feels what I feel, knows what I know. When I inquired if anyone else has realized that humanity is insane, I was both saddened and relieved to find fellow wakened sufferers. The worst suffering is when you see what you love, dying through self-sabotage. Yet most articles seem to only complain and not offer concrete answers. There is only one way out of the craziness that we've allowed into our world, and it is for each of us to take personal responsibility to set and keep an honorable intention, every day, as if our lives depended on it. This intention requires no fealty to any given religion, culture, or philosophy. It only requires complete, nonviolent commitment to self to Action, Clarity, and Truth. Commitment to Action means doing what needs to be done, when it needs to be done, not waiting until problems pile up. Aka staying on top of things. The easiest and most needed action to take is the action of cleanliness. (Not sterility.) Something amazing happens when we see something that looks filthy, littered, or polluted in some way, and clean it; you feel good inside, the kind of good that comes from worthwhile accomplishment. Polluted air causes lung illnesses; clean air changes that. Did you see how simple that was? Instead of wasting time and money and energy on curing diseases caused by pollutions, clean the pollutions out of the air and the lungs are suddenly free to do their thing. Drink polluted water and we get sick. Purify the water and drink only that, and we get well. This concept of pollution exists at any level, subtle to dense, micro to macro, mental to emotional. After 20 years of healing through specialized bodywork, I promise you this: All I do is clean up the stuck debris and the body takes care of the rest - and this is universally true as well. Think of all forms of pollutants as obstacles to the health, happiness, and vitality of just about anything and everything, including procedural things. Commitment to Cleanliness (without blame or tantrums) is key to a world we can all enjoy.
Commitment to Clarity means choosing to be brave and patient enough to unearth and identify pollutants, wherever they may be hiding. Most pollutants hide in plain site. If we cannot see or identify the pollutants that get in the way of a healthy, enjoyable world, then we cannot clean those pollutants from our lives. Racism is a form of insane pollution. Much of it was hidden up until America put a Black Man in the White House. Was it sad to see the ugliness that is racism rise to the surface? Absolutely. Is that clarity vital to the motivation and direction to do something about it? Absolutely. Without setting the intention, every day of our lives, to commit to Clarity we will struggle to see and perhaps not see, at all, what needs to be done. Without daily commitment to clarity, we cannot see the best path forward. We cannot see the most efficient, flawless, pleasant way to design - anything. Clarity does something else, too: It erases that awful, anxious feeling of having to take action while feeling blinded or unsure or unsafe. Clarity brings peace of mind and is also key to a world we can all enjoy. Commitment to Truth means remembering what you were supposed to learn in all those math classes and applying it to every problem life presents. First, gather all the data that can be found that relates to the problem or issue. Be sure to gather data from both sides, left or right, up or down. Treat the data as the neutral facts they are. Then sort and categorize, separating the bits that are vital to solving the problem from the bits that are superfluous. Take the key bits of data from both sides and artfully blend them together to make a new whole where the problem ceases to exist, then institute common sense preventive measures. Without Truth merging opposites into a new whole, life is spent waging idiotic wars, large and small, internal and external. And, Truth isn't Truth if it is polluted with bias. Truth isn't Truth if it is one-sided. Truth isn't Truth if it lacks any bits that make all the difference. You know you've struck Truth when Clarity strikes at the same time. Imagine if everyone of us, everyday, rich or poor, abled or disabled, simply and wholeheartedly committed to Action, Clarity, and Truth in the name of good things for one and all for all time? It would be near impossible for pathogens, invisible insanity-causing pathogens in particular, to insidiously creep into life on this glorious planet that is our home and refuge - and crying out to us to commit to her and ourselves.
