Dehydration and Illness - Part 1

2/22/2020

A leading cause and aggravator of chronic health problems is dehydration.

“Low humidity causes static electricity, dry skin and hair, increased susceptibility to colds and respiratory illness, and can allow viruses and germs to thrive. Wood floors, furniture and millwork will split and crack, paint will chip, and electronics can be damaged because of low humidity levels.”

Consuming enough water through diet is the typical solution for staying hydrated. Yet, many people are drinking plenty of water and their bodies are still dehydrated. I palpate bodies for a living. Dehydrated bodies are suffering bodies.

There is a second, primary source of hydration: The air we breathe. Proper humidity levels can make all the difference. Going from the chart I borrowed from Health Canada, the comfort zone is 30-55% humidity.

Do you know what your humidity levels are? Do you know what's stealing the water out of the air you breathe?

Drinkable Arthritis Relief

A multi-purpose home remedy ingredient I purposely ignored due to my gut’s life-long inability to tolerate it, has turned out to be a remedy I potentially needed most: Vinegar. Specifically, apple cider vinegar or ACV. It is one of three main ingredients in a recipe I hope you will join me in trying. Alone (yet well diluted,) ACV is already known to be a digestive helper, immune supporter, and weight loss tool, but combined with two other antimicrobial ingredients, it packs a powerful punch for arthritic relief, too - but only if it 'tastes' right to you.

Fibromyalgia is Not a Disease

Fibromyalgia (FM) is not a disease for which, once they find a cure, a pill can be popped and now everything is okay. FM doesn’t have a single cause. It is not a bug or a virus or a parasite. Fibromyalgia is not, despite its name, about muscle pain. Fibromyalgia is not incurable. Fibromyalgia is not in your or anyone else’s head.

Those prone to restless leg syndrome may want to avoid carbonated drinks. Don't take my word for it! For a week or two, remove all carbonated sodas and waters, including naturally carbonated,  and observe for changes.

Happiness Through Biochemistry and Health

I'm not sure when I started to see science and spirituality (the purpose behind religion) as coming together, but I believe it was in 2000 around the time this crazy, wonderful man taught me how to feel the energy of a tree, which was also the beginning of my palpation skills training. By coming together, I mean that much of what researchers from multiple disciplines are learning about the root causes of chronic disease and addiction can now more aptly explain the ancient texts that tried to warn us of this very thing. It has never been about the supernatural or some demanding authority figure. It has always been about helping us to see that which would lead us away from health on any level and that which would lead us toward health on all levels, both individually and as a civilization.

Normalizing Treatments for Health and Fertility

7/19/2018

"Normalizing" treatments are wonderful, because whatever is out of balance will begin to return to balance. For example: The Old World manual therapy treatment called Gua sha has been shown to lower liver enzymes that are too high, and raise liver enzymes that are too low. This is normalization, and it is worth seeking out normalizing foods, activities, and treatments, especially if you have inexplicable chronic conditions. Tok sen is proving to be another, highly effective normalizing treatment, and both gentle Gua sha and Tok sen are used in my practice. Get ready for the big leap: Intermittent Fasting (IF) and Low Carb High Fat (LCHF) lifestyle diets are very likely normalizing digestive and endocrine function. Here's a lovely, true story (one of untold many) of how being thin doesn't mean healthy and how IF and LCHF can help improve digestive health and turn infertility around: The Faces of Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS)

A Love Letter About Fat

My apologies ... while I was having some fun writing a purposely tongue-in-cheek post about something real and important regarding fat in our diet and the body's desperate need for more than we are giving it ... upon review, it was a terribly written piece! I'll be back later with a proper version, minus the attempt at humor that I clearly failed at, likely from too many episodes of The Americans :D. 'Til soon.

The health benefits of raw cocoa and the lessons in the story behind the recipe is what makes the concoction worth drinking, not the taste of the thing, but there is comfort in the tasting. For your convenience, recipe is posted first, story follows.

    Goals

Solutions to everyday stress involve identifying where we are emotionally unhappy and then taking action to correct or curb the circumstances involved. I love this kind of healing-based problem-solving and happily share for those seeking similar unique yet ubiquitous solutions. Consequently, the topics here may vary within health, lifestyle, and work/business.
